Died: September 5, 2006Johanna Riepma, 91, of Sioux Center died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull, Iowa.
Memorial services will be 11 A.M. Saturday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Reverend Al Mulder officiating. Burial will be prior to the service Saturday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton, Iowa. There will be a prayer service at 9:15 A.M. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 P.M. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 P.M., at the funeral home.
Jo was born November 9, 1914, near Hawarden, Iowa to William and Nellie (Wiersma) Sinkey. She graduated from Ireton Iowa High School and attended Westmar College and Northwestern College. She began teaching in rural schools.
On May 24, 1936, she was married to Ted Riepma in Ireton. They farmed in the Maurice and Ireton areas. She taught at Sioux Center Christian School for 12 years and served as teacher and principal at both Hawarden and Doon Christian Schools.
Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Al Mulder of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bev and Bob Attema of Tyndall, South Dakota, and Marge and Earl Cuperus of Hull, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Behnia of Bellflower, California, Diane (Joe) Garcia of Gallup, New Mexico, Carla (Gary) Huber of Gallup, New Mexico, Eva Nickles of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Doug (Jen) Attema of Pella, Iowa, Jeanne (Greg) Svanda of Yankton, South Dakota, Brian (Karla) Attema of Pierce, Nebraska, Susan (Bill) Rosenau of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Steve Attema of Mankato, Minnesota, Lynn (Kelli) Cuperus of Hull, Kim (Bernie) Wynia of Sioux Center and Christopher Cuperus of Hull; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; a sister-in-law, Irene Noteboom of Norwalk, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 26, 2002; her parents; and six brothers and sisters.
