Keith S. Morehead, 73, of Hawarden died on Monday, June 22, at Hawarden Community Hospital.

Services were Thursday at American Lutheran Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Jeff Swanson officiating. Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery.

Morehead was born on March 16, 1925, near Akron, the son of Guy Charles & Ida (Hummel) Morehead. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

He married Grace (Osterkamp) Marienau on July 14, 1945, in Canton, South Dakota. The couple farmed in the Alcester, South Dakota and the Hawarden area.

He was a member of American Lutheran Church and a past member of the Pioneer Acres Threshing Bee in Hawarden. He enjoyed draft horses.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Larry & Suzie Morehead of Hawarden, and James & Carolyn Marienau of Ankeny; a brother and his wife, James & Marian of Sioux City; two sisters and their husbands, Joan & Jerry Perera of Sioux City, and Mary Lou & Jerry Lundy of Gresham, Oregon; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Nancy Lee; four brothers, Robert, Gordon, Ray and Clifford, and two sisters, Helen Jurgenson and Dorothy Hockett.
