V. Dean Moeller, 68, of rural Ireton, died suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his residence near Ireton.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton with Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton.

Verlyn Dean Moeller was born May 30, 1931, at Ireton, the son of Peter & Henrietta (Witt) Moeller. Dean was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on May 20, 1945. He served with the US. Army as a Private from Feb. 1953 to Feb. 1955, serving time in Korea. He received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.

Following his military service, Dean farmed for 10 years near Ireton until retiring. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton.

Surviving relatives include three brothers, Raymond, Daryl, and Lowell, all of Ireton, and a sister, Vivian Bultman, and her husband, Ken, of Hawarden.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lyle and Melvin, and two sisters, Violet Moeller as a child, and Verna Schlumbohm.
