Sioux Center News, August 31, 1961

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the First Reformed church at Boyden for John W. Moret, 73, long-time Boyden resident, and father of Henry Moret of Sioux Center, who passed away August 28, at the Sheldon hospital.

Services were held in the First Reformed Church basement at 1:00 p.m., and in the church sanctuary at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. H. Schoon officiating. Burial was in the Boyden cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

John W. Moret was born at Middleburg, IA, October 19, 1888, and was reared in that community.

On February 8, 1912, he was married to Nellie De Groot, who preceded him in death on March 17, 1940.

He is survived by five children: William of Sheldon; Henry of Sioux Center; Lawrence of Rippey, IA; Nelvina (Mrs. Louis Rons). of Jasper, MN, and Eunice (Mrs. Earl Campbell) of Des Moines; 30 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister.

Three children preceded him in death: Henrietta, James and Jeanette.

On April 27, 1943, he was married to Mrs. Lillian Kooiman, who survives.

He had been a member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden since 1912, when he moved to that community.
