Sioux Center News, July 14, 1960

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church at Boyden at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, for Leonard W. Moret, 80, life-long resident of Sioux County and a farmer of near Boyden until his retirement in 1946, who died at the Sheldon Community hospital at 8:30 a.m., July 10, following an illness of one month's duration.

Services were conducted by the Rev. H. Schooln and burial was made in the Boyden cemetery under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Service of Sioux Center.

Pall bearers were: Lee Moret, Norman Moret; Larry Moret; William Rozeboom; Myron Kleinwolterink and Gary Uitenbogaard.

Mr. Moret was born at Middleburg, IA, February 14, 1880, the son of Mr. & Mrs. William Moret. He was married November 7, 1901 to Mary Baartman. The couple made their home on a farm near Boyden until moving into Boyden in 1946. Mrs. Moret passed away July 14, 1950.

Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. Elizabeth Rens of Grand Rapids, MI, and Mrs. Cora Uitenbogaard of Primghar; four sons: William, Peter; Henry and Marion all of Boyden; two brothers, Hugo and John of Boyden; one sister, Mrs. Jake Niewendorp of Sheldon; 16 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Elenore and Margaret (Mrs. Ike Van Maanen) his parents and two brothers, Robert and Herman.
