Mrs. Arnold (Mary Ann) Rolfes, 78, of Maurice, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars, following a lengthy illness.

The former Mary Ann Didier was born August 21, 1927, on a farm near Granville, the daughter of Nick and Catherine (Blatt) Didier. She grew up near Granville and attended St. Josephs Catholic School.

On August 21, 1950, Mary Ann married Arnold Arnie Rolfes at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. They lived in Le Mars until 1976 when they moved to Maurice. While they lived in Le Mars, Mary Ann had worked at Aalfs Manufacturing. After moving to Maurice, she was employed with Groschopp in Sioux Center for many years.

Mary Ann was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.

Survivors include her husband, Arnie Rolfes of Maurice; six children: Denny Rolfes of Maurice, Sharon Schelling and her husband, Robert of Sioux Center, Doug Rolfes and his wife, Jane of Clarkdale, Arizona, Mary Gengler of Pocahontas, Dave Rolfes and his wife, Cindy of Le Mars, and Jack Rolfes and his wife, Bev of Orange City; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barb Pottebaum of Alton and Catherine Twombley of Ankeny; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Michael David Rolfes; and a brother,Ray Didier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Kevin Richter presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a Parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be six grandsons:Brad Schelling, Brian Schelling, Jay Rolfes, Tony Rolfes, Jon Gengler, and Judd Rolfes.
