Martin J. Moeller, 58, Sioux Center, died Tuesday, July 24, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Services were Friday, July 27, at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Reverend R. Van Rathbun officiated. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Martin Moeller, son of Jacob I. and Joyce (Boeyink) Moeller, was born November 30, 1948, in Sioux Center. He graduated from Sioux Center High School before attending Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he received an accounting degree. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He married Theresa Sue Riepma on August 5, 1972, in Sioux Center. He began selling insurance. He owned Moeller Insurance Agency and was the president of German Farmers Mutual Insurance Company.

He was an active person and was involved with many community organizations. He was a member of the Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Parks Board, Sioux County Sportsman’s Club, Ducks Unlimited and Pleasants Forever. He assisted with the Central Reformed Church Logos Program and Boy Scout Troop 211. He was the past president of the Mutual Insurance Association of Iowa and had served as an American Legion Adjutant of the Sioux Center American Legion Post 199. He loved to spend his free time golfing, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two children, Jason and Megan Moeller of Sioux Center, and Jessica and Chris Underberg of Larchwood; three grandchildren, and one due in January; his mother, Joyce Moeller of Sioux Center; two brothers, Kent and Kathy Moeller of Sioux Center, and Tom Moeller of Sioux Center; and his mother-in-law, Annetta Riepma of Sioux Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Teresa Sue Moeller; a daughter, Tricia Moeller; his father, Jacob I. Moeller; and father-in-law, Bernard Riepma.

Memorials may be directed to Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center or the Sioux Center American Legion.
