Elizabeth “Bette” H. Millard, 80, of Grand Rapids, died Thursday, December 20, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial was December 27 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, with the Reverend Thomas Galarneault officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Arrangements are by the Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.

Bette was born in 1927 in Morris, Minnesota, the daughter of Martin and Agnes Forsberg. She graduated from Hawarden High School. On May 18, 1946, she married Alymer Millard in Hawarden. Bette was employed with Northwestern Bell as an operator in Hawarden and later was a homemaker. In 1956, they moved to the Grand Rapids area.

Bette was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Birthright, 1st Call for Help, Telephone Pioneers, and Itasca Historical Society. Bette was involved with art classes at the YMCA and the MacRostie Art Gallery, where she was selected three times for juried art shows.

She is survived by daughters, Dee Millard of Edina, Minnesota, and Mary and John Lipscy of Grand Rapids; sons, Charles and Darla Millard of Grand Rapids, Gary and Denise Millard of Coleraine, Minnesota, John and Mary Millard of Grand Rapids; sister, Margie and Dallas Crow of Hawarden; brothers, Adolph and Elsie Forsberg of Chisholm, Minnesota and Harold Forsberg of Sydney, Montana; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Robert Forsberg; one sister, Marie Ross; and her husband, Alymer Millard.
