Mrs. Sebianne Popma, 85 of Orange City passed away Thurs. April 3, 2003 at her residence.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, with Rev. Timothy Ouwinga officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City with Oolman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sebianne was born June 4, 1917 at Orange City, the daughter of Brunis and Jeanette (Van Peursem) Reinders. After the death of her father, her mother married Evert Reinders, who also raised her. She attended Orange City Christian School and graduated from Northwestern Classical Academy in Orange City.

On Dec. 20, 1939 she married Delbert Thomas Popma at the family home near Carnes, IA. They farmed there for 45 years. In 1984 they moved into Orange City. Sebianne was a homemaker, who assisted on the farm and was a clerk in several Orange City stores. Her family was very important to her.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where she had been an organist and was involved in many activities, including the Faith, Hope and Love Society. She also belonged to the Monica Society. Mrs. Popma was a faithful visitor to the shut-ins. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking and writing.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Shardell and Marvin Swets of Hull, and Mary and Kenneth Wiersma of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, Dan and Marlys Popma of Lynnville, IA, and James and Mary Popma of Sioux Center; 13 grandchildren, Pamela Caldwell, Mark Swets, Jay Swets, Tanya Jones, Jane Willekes, Jenny Cox, Dustin Popma, Micah Popma, Whitney Popma, Angel Popma, Christine Popma, Shawn Popma and Molly Popma; 14 great-grandchildren; and four brothers and sisters, John B. Reinders and his wife, Margaret of Orange City, Gertrude Singer of South Bend, IND. Bernie Reinders and his wife Lorna, and Everly Visser, all of Orange City.
