Sioux County Capital April 11, 1991

Henry J. Klein, 86, of Granville, died Wednesday, April 3, 1991 at Millie's Rest Home in Sutherland after a brief illness. Services were held Saturday, April 6 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville with the Rev. Robert W. Gralapp officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Klein was born Nov. 20, 1904 in rural Alton, the son of Jacob and Cecelia (Goebel) Klein. He was raised and educated in the Alton and Granville area. He married Evelyn Kreber, Jan. ,15, 1929,. in Granville. The couple farmed near Granville and moved into town in 1968. They retired in 1970. He was custodian at Spalding Schools in Granville for several years in the early 1970s. He had been a resident at Millie's Rest Home since July 7, 1986. Mrs. Klein died Oct. 25, 1988. Mr. Klein was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and a past member of Floyd Township School District.

Survivors include a son James of Granville; two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Clara) Croatt of Aitkin, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Colwell of Hanover Park, 111.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo of Alton; five sisters, Sister Mary Oda, O.S.F. and Sister Mary Tresa, O.S.F., both of Dubuque, Mrs. Ed (Anna) Penning of Nebraska City, Neb., Agnes Klein of Alton and Mrs. Julius (Mary Ann) Penning of Granville; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lawrence (Luella) Klein of Granville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nick and Lawrence.
