Iva Rensink, 102 of Boyden died Thurs. Oct. 30 at the Heritage House in Orange City.

Services were at 11 a.m. Tues. at First Reformed Church of Boyden with Rev. Matthew Draffen officiating. Burial was in Sheridan Township Cemetery, Boyden.

Mrs. Rensink was born to William and Ida (Bader) Stoehr on April 9, 1901 in Leadville, CO. She was raised in Montrose, CO. and graduated from Montrose High School. She attended Central College in Pella, IA. She married Leonard Rensink on Jan. 17, 1922 in Redvale, CO. The couple settled on a farm north of Boyden. They moved into Boyden in 1952. He died Sept. 23, 1984. She continued to live in their home until becoming a resident of Heritage House in 1995.

She was a devoted member of First Reformed Church of Boyden. Over the years she taught Sunday School, directed the choir and was active in Ladies Aid. She was an accomplished writer. She wrote the "History of Boyden" and also published a book on her family's history, as well as other prose and poems. As an active member of Federated Women's Club in Boyden, she served at the state level as an officer with Iowa Federated Women's Club.

Survivors include two sons, Leland and Annabelle Rensink, and Wendell and Caroline Rensink, all of Boyden; a daughter, Anona Elliott-Boone and her husband Charles of Claremore, OK; a sister-in-law, Betty and Julius Damstra of Primghar; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Leonard Rensink Jr. and his wife Nan; a son-in-law, the Rev. Frank Elliott; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three sisters.
