Clifford A. Reinking, 87, of Hawarden, formerly of Ireton, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton with Rev. Marcel Kohlmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Clifford A. Reinking was born August 18, 1921 in Wheatland, Iowa, the son of Conrad and Irma (Lendt) Reinking. The family relocated to Ireton, Iowa and Clifford married Alice Van Bruggen on May 20, 1940 in Ireton. They farmed in the Maurice and Ireton areas and moved into Ireton in 1961. He was self employed in corn shelling and later worked for the Farmers Coop until retirement. Alice died September 12, 2001.

Clifford was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was a volunteer fireman for 16 years and enjoyed woodworking, camping, and fishing with his sons. He enjoyed sharing conversations with friends, liked to work in his garden and yard, clean his house, and liked fixing things.

He is survived by two sons, Ken and wife Karen of Ireton and Roger of Evansville, Minnesota; two daughters, Linda Hop and husband Bob of Carlos, Minnesota and Barb Oliver and husband Jon of Sioux City; daughter-in-law, Sharon Reinking of Hawarden; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; son, Arlan; grandson, Randy Reinking; and brothers, Herb, Wayne, Erwin, Don, Merle, and Elmer in infancy.
