Sioux Falls, SD - Harold L. Naber of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Granville, IA, passed away on Nov. 27, 2013, at Sanford Foundation Hospice Cottage after a courageous battle of lung cancer.

Services were Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Sioux Falls, SD. Father Richard Fox officiated. Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery, under the direction of Miller Funeral Home.

Harold was born March 15, 1942 in Orange City, IA, the only child of Norbert & Mary (Reistoffer) Naber. He was raised in the Granville area and attended St. Joseph's School through graduation in 1960. He then attended Commercial Extension School of Commerce in Omaha, NE, for business and worked in Omaha until serving in the U.S. Army from April of 1964 until his honorable discharge in April of 1966. He served during the Vietnam War in the state of Louisiana. After discharge he went into farming with his father.

On Feb. 17, 1968, he married Ione Von Arb of Alton, IA, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. They lived and farmed northwest of Granville for 45 years until relocating to Sioux Falls in summer 2013.

Harold was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville all his life, before joining Christ the King Parish in Sioux Falls. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post 0095, the Catholic Order of Foresters and also served on the boards of St. Joseph's Parish and Rural Water System #1.

Harold truly loved every aspect of farming and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, reading, dancing, attending theatre plays and playing cards. He was a blood donor for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Ione of Sioux Falls; and children: Patrick (Jennifer) Naber of Blaine, MN; Janine (Steve) Huss of Spencer, IA; Jill (Matt) Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD, and Brent (fiancé Sarah Ewing) Naber of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Megan & Derek Huss; Emerie Jensen; MiKayla Nieuwendorp; Brooke Naber; William, Lucas and Kaitlyn Ewing; three brothers-in-law: Paul (Pauline) Von Arb of Granville, IA; Ron (Sondra) Von Arb of Owatonna, MN; Robert (Glenda) Von Arb of Hayward, WI; 10 sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Mousel of LeMars, IA; Charlotte Von Arb of Spring, TX; Char List of Granville, IA; Patricia Jungers of Hospers, IA; Margie Klein of Ashton, IA; Carolyn (Vern) Langenfeld of St. Louis, MO Arlene (Leon) Schoo of St. Joseph, IA; Bev (Don) Delperdang of Remsen, IA; Clarissa Doggett of Anchorage, AK, and Judy (Frank) Mousel of Dyersville, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by Ione's parents, Paul & Barbara Von Arb; seven brothers-in-law; Melvin (Lillian) Von Arb, Everett (Bud) Von Arb; Ray List; Bernard Jungers; Leo Klein; Orville (Kay) Von Arb and Bill Lanzendorf.
