Bernard Schlumbohm, 86, of Hawarden, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Akron City Convalescent Care Center. Funeral services were Nov. 29 at Peace Lutheran Church rural Sioux Center, with the Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.
Bernard Schlumbohm, the son of August & Matilda (Winterfeld) Schlumbohm, was born April 24, 1917 in rural Eagle Township, Sioux County,. He attended rural schools in Sioux County. After his schooling he farmed all his life in the rural Hawarden area. On Feb. 6, 1944, he married Verna Moeller in Ireton. Mrs. Schlumbohm died May 24, 1987.
Bernard was a life long member of Peace Lutheran Church rural Sioux Center where he was a church officer at various times.
Survivors include his two sons, Lloyd of rural Hawarden and Ron, also of rural Hawarden; his grandson, Matthew Schlumbohm of Sioux City; a sister Lorraine Schmidt of Sioux Falls, and also his good friend, Charlotte Hope of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his wife Verna.
