From the Alton Democrat, Sept. 22, 1906:

Mrs. John Andrews died at the home of her daughter Mrs. James Carpenter at Canton South Dakota Wednesday morning. Cause of her death was old age. Deceased was the mother of Mrs. Chadwick living north of Hull also Mrs. Frank Beckman of Los Angeles California and Mrs. Jewell now living somewhere in Nebraska. There are two sons living in Illinois. Mrs. Andrews was for many years a resident of Lincoln township this county.

Since the death of her husband—John Andrews —which occurred several years ago she has made her home with Mrs. Carpenter, The news of her death came as something of a surprise to Hull people as she had been there on a visit about a week before and seemed to be in good health. The remains will be brought to Hull for burial.

The funeral of Mrs. John Andrews was held at the Presbyterian church Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Andrews was 76 years of age and had a large circle of friends who join with the bereaved ones in their sorrow. Her daughters, Mrs. Tillie Jewel, of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mrs. Lottie Carpenter, of Beloit, Iowa, and Mrs. Nancy Chadwick, of Hull, were present, Mrs. Frank Beckman, of Long Beach, Calif., being absent. Of the two sons, John, of Chicago, was present. Both sons had just returned from a visit with their mother. She had also been here on a visit when they came here.
