Irene Hansen, 97, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, April 18, 1992, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Services were held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at Pioneer United Methodist Church of Rock Valley, with the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hansen was born March 31, 1895, in Sanborn, the daughter of Ira and Alice (Thomas)Long. She moved with her family to Rock Valley, where she graduated from Rock Valley Public High School. On February 19, 1928, she married W.B. “Bill” Hansen in Kingsley. The couple made their home in Rock Valley. He died November 9, 1957. She moved to Valley Manor in July 1985.

Mrs. Hansen was a longtime member of Pioneer United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Kenneth and Shirley Hansen of Rock Valley; to grandsons and their wives, David and Erin Hansen of Hudson, South Dakota, and Paul and Annette Hansen of Rock Valley; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua and Ashley; and a sister, Lois Goldsmith, of Sequim, Washington.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Bob, Lloyd and Ted Long; and two sisters, Maud Long and Mabel Smith.
