Died: January 2, 1993Earl J. Schenck, 100, of Hawarden died Saturday, January 2, at the Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester, South Dakota.
Services were at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, at American Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Karla Kirkeby officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.
Schenck was born November 12, 1892, in Newcastle, Nebraska, the son of Elmer and Lillian Schenck. He married Ethel Warnock March 20, 1917, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Minnesota and Nebraska. He later was the grounds keeper at the Thermoflector Block Factory in North Sioux City. They retired to Hawarden in 1962. She died April 22, 1977, and he moved to Morningside Manor October 4, 1989.
He was a member of American Lutheran Church in Hawarden.
Survivors include a daughter, Mardell Anderson of Hawarden; two brothers, Floyd of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Carroll of Marshall, Minnesota; a sister, Irene Neelands of Sunnymead, California; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
