Charles E. Hoflund of Lincoln, Nebraska, a former resident of Hawarden, passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. F.A. High, in Penney Farms, Florida, last Friday evening following a stroke. His remains were sent back to his old home at Cambridge, Illinois, for burial. His brother, O.E. Hoflund of Hawarden, left Monday for Cambridge to attend the funeral.

The deceased was 77 years of age and lived at Lincoln, Nebraska, but was spending the winter at Greep Cove Springs, Florida. When he became ill he went to the home of his sister at Penney Farms where he passed away. Mr. Hoflund lived in Hawarden for about four or five years when he was engaged in the insurance business with his brother, O.E. Hoflund. At one time he lived in Sioux City and was vice-president of the old Northwestern National Bank in that city.

Besides his brother, O.E. Hoflund and his sister, Mrs. F.A. High, he is survived by one other sister, Mrs. W.S. Briggs of Sioux City. He never married.
