Henrietta Van Maanen, 86, of Rock Valley died Saturday, April 23, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Reformed church in Rock Valley. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Van Maanen was born February 11, 1919, to Richard and Jennie (Abma) Postma in Rock Valley. She was raised on a farm near Rock Valley and attended Rock Valley Christian School. She worked at Kooiman's General Store until her marriage to Dick Van Maanen on February 14, 1947, near Rock Valley, they farmed north of Rock Valley until retiring to Rock Valley in 1980. They later moved to Four Seasons Retirement Center. He died December 22, 1998, and she later moved to Valley Manor. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (Audrey) Van Maanen of Hull; daughters, Geneva (Bob) Tronnes of Minneapolis, Audrey (Earl) Schuld of Woodstock, Minnesota, and Lorna Van Maanen of Rock Valley; brothers, Martin (Katie) Postma and Donald (Lois) Postma, all of Rock Valley, (Clarence (Laura) Postma of Orange City, Richard (Linda)Postma and Robert (Sherril) Postma, all of Knoxville, and Stanley (Sharon) Postma of Aloha, Oregon; sisters, Marian Altena of Pipestone, Minnesota, Shirley (Carl) Vander Schaaf of Pella and Carol (Vito) Puopolo of Alta Loma, California; 11 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Bolkema andBonnie De Vries; brothers, Gerrit and Lawrence Postma; and son-inlaw, Gerald Dykstra.
