Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the First Reformed Church for Henry Schalekamp, 97, of Orange City, who passed away early Thursday morning, February 28, in the Orange City hospital, where he spent the last of his declining years.

Mr. Schalekamp was born in Holland, the Netherlands and came to America at the age of 17 with his brother, Jake Schalekamp. They settled in Orange City, where they made their home with their uncle, D.H. Schalekamp. After his marriage to Mary De Jong the couple lived on a farm near Middleburg for some years and later moved to Yakima, Washington, remaining their until 1927, when they returned to Orange City.

Mrs. Mary Schalekamp died 20 years ago. A few years after her death Mr. Schalekamp moved to the Village Hotel residing there until two years ago when he became hospitalized. Mr. and Mrs. Schalekamp had no children.

A brother, Jake Schalekamp preceded him in death ten years ago.

Rev. R. Van Heukelom officiated at the funeral service and interment was made in the local cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Service in charge.
