Kevin Kroese
Kevin Kent Kroese, 48, of Boyden, died unexpectedly on Monday, January 2, while visiting his daughter in Yinchuan, China. A memorial service was Saturday at 10:30 a . m . a t First Christian Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Kroese was born on August 2, 1957, in Sioux Center, the son of Albert John and Florence Ruth (Wissink) Kroese. He was raised on a farm between Boyden and Hull. He attended Hull Christian School and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull. He then earned his bachelor's degree at Dordt College in Sioux Center.

On July 6, 1979, he married Sandra Lynn Walvoort in Oostburg, Wisconsin. They made their home in Hull for several years and then moved to the farm where he was raised, where they have since lived and farmed.He was a lifelong and active member o f First Christian Reformed Church of Hull, where he served as a deacon on the consistory, a Sunday school teacher, a Cadet counselor, a choir member and a sponsor of the Young People’s Society. He was a member of the boards of directors of Western Christian High School and Hull Cooperative Association.

He enjoyed farming and liked showing the joys of farm life to his nephews and nieces, from feeding newborn livestock to riding four wheelers. He was an avid sports fan, who played Softball and baseball and followed many teams, especially those of Western and Dordt.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Sandy; four children, Katie Sue Kroese, at home, Andrew John Kroese and his wife Samantha of Elmhurst, Illinois, Jane Lillian Kroese, at home, and Benjamin Joe Kroese at home; his parents, Al and Florence Kroese of Hull; two sisters and a brother and their spouses, Carol and Hank Vande Kraats of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Jay and Lydia Kroese of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Emily and James Lund of Northfield, Minnesota; his wife's family, her parents, Robert and Lillian Walvoort of Oostburg; two sisters and their husbands Ellen and Dennis Covel of Wichita, Kansas, and Marge and Lyle Faber of Escondido, California; and three brothers and their wives, Ron and Lynn Walvoort, Ken and Judy Walvoort and Rob and Shara Walvoort all of Oostburg; as well as many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins from both families. Memorials may be directed to Hull Christian School, Western Christian High School or Dordt College.
