Death of Alcester Merchant - C. F. Cox Died Suddenly at His Home Last Thursday Evening
C. F. Cox, one of the pioneer merchants of Alcester, passed away at his home about 7:30 last Thursday evening following a brief illness from dropsy. Mr. Cox had not been feeling well for two weeks, but his condition was not regarded as serious as he was up and around and was at his place of business the day preceding his death. Even on the day of his death he was not confined to his bed but was up and down and conversed freely with the doctors who were called in to consultant in the case.

Charlie F. Cox, third son of Mrs. S. E. Cox of Hawarden, was born March 7, 1870, and passed away Dec. 20,1928, at the age of 58 year's, 9 months and 13 days. About thirty years ago; he engaged in the hardware business in Alcester in partnership with John Edson. After being in business with Mr. Edson he went into the hardware business by himself and continued in this business until about two years ago when he sold out and since then he has operated a harness and shoe shop at Alcester. A number of years ago. He was united in marriage with Miss Tressa Keiser. Mr. Cox was very successful in his business at Alcester and has a large circle of friends who will learn with sorrow of his sudden death.

He is survived by his widow and mother an also five brothers and five sisters. The brothers are: L. W. and George of Hawarden; Jesse of Alcester; Harvey of Hecla, S. D.; and John of Montana and the sisters are: Mrs. Eva Edson of Alcester; Mrs. Viola McNaughton and Mrs. Millie Bancroft
of Hawarden; Mrs. Rose Hildebrand of Oregon and Mrs. Lillie Graham of Salix, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at Alcester Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the Alcester cemetery.
