Gertrude Dykstra, 79 of Rock Valley died Mon. Aug. 14, 2000 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. at Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dykstra was born May 13, 1921 in Lyon County, IA, the daughter of Lane and Hattie (Van Der Weide) Rozeboom. She attended country school in Alvord, IA. She was employed with Veterans Hospital in Clinton, IA.

She married Theodore Dykstra Jan. 28, 1947. The couple made their home near Rock Valley. She was employed with Canton Good Samaritan Center in Canton, S.D. for many years. They moved into Rock Valley in 1996.

She was a member of Netherlands Reformed Church and Rock Valley Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, John H. and Donna of Sioux City, and Theodore Jr. and Dawn of Canton; three daughters, Thelma De Smit of Rock Valley, Lenora and her husband, Bob Raymon of Canton, and Linnette and her husband Dennis Johnson of Sioux Falls; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Audrey and Earl Schuld of Woodstock, MN; two brothers and their wives, Dick L. and Hermina Rozeboom, and William L and Jackie Rozeboom, all of Rock Valley; two sisters, Dena Erickson of Inwood, IA, and Dilly Munch of Sioux Falls; 16 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a son, Gerald; a son-in-law, Jay De Smit; a grandson, Jeff Dykstra; and a brother, Lane Rozeboom.
