S. H. Carr, former postmaster of Ireton, died from an operation for appendicitis, at the home of his wife's parents last week. It will be remembered that Mr. Carr was recently tried for forgery but was acquitted for lack of evidence. Now that Mr. Carr had paid the last great debt, let the mantle of charity fall over his last meeting place. There is much sympathy expressed for his faithful and devoted wife.

S. H. Carr Dead

A telegram received at Ireton yesterday afternoon announced the death of S. H. Carr that morning at Belmond, Iowa, after an operation for appendicitis. He had been seriously ill for a week and his former physician, Dr. Mosher, went to Belmond to assist in the operation which terminated fatally. With all of his faults it is not thought by many that Mr. Carr ever designed wrong in his troubles with the Maurice bank and he has now paid the last great debt of all. There is much sympathy for the family.

S. H. CARR DIES AT BELMOND
Death Supposed to Have Been Caused by an Attack of Appendicitis
Was Formerly Postmaster of Ireton and a Prominent Sioux County Attorney -- Had Been Sick About Ten Days

A telegram was received at Ireton Tuesday evening stating that S. H. Carr had died at his home in Belmond, Iowa. It was known that Mr. Carr had been sick with an attack of appendicitis, but it was believed that his health was improving. Dr. Mosher, of LeMars, who was formerly the family physician, had been to see him and thought Mr. Carr would recover, but it is probable that some complication set in and he was not able to withstand the disease.

S. H. Carr was formerly one of the rominent citizens of Ireton and Sioux county. He had lived here about nine years and during that time had been postmaster and held other important positions. His death will be almost a crushing blow for his wife who has been a devoted one. There is not a person in Ireton or vicinity that knew Mr. and Mrs. Carr but what were painfully shocked to hear of his death. Mr. Carr was a member in good standing of the Ireton Camp of Modern Woodmen and carried an insurance of $3,000 in that institution besides he held other insurance.
