Rena Feekes, 101, of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1995 at the Valley Manor. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carmel Reformed Church in Carmel. The Rev. Brad Langstraat officiated. Burial was in Carmel Cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home, Sioux Center.

Rena was born Aug. 12,1894 in Archer, the daughter of Jacob and Wiepke (Vellinga) Vanden Hull. She attended school in Archer and the Northwestern Academy in Orange City. She then taught school near Carmel .She married Gradus Feekes July 9, 1919. The couple lived near Sioux Center for 28 years. They reitred to Carmel, moving to the Valley Manor in 1980.

Mrs. Feekes was an active member of the Carmel Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, and led Bible studies for the Ladies Aid. She also led a Bible study at Valley Manor. Mrs. Feekes loved flowers.

Survivors include five children, Ted and his wife Ida Fae of Peterson, Winnie and her husband Dennis Scholten of Steen, Minn., George of Sioux City, Gerrit and his wife Marie of Avoca, and Matilda Moss of Valley Springs, S.D.; a daughter-in-law, Jean Feekes of Sheldon; 16 grandchildren; 40 greatgrandchildren; and seven great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Robert; and a son-in-law, Art.
