Robert H. "Bob" Fennema, 67, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at his residence from complications with heart and kidney disease. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Reformed Church, which is located in the St. Mark Lutheran Church 5200 Glenn Avenue. The Rev. Robert J. Rook will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Bob was born in Alton, Iowa, on Jan. 31, 1938, to John and Ruth (Jansen) Fennema. He graduated from Alton High School in 1956. On Feb. 16, 1968, he married Lila Newman in Hawarden, Iowa. His chosen profession was an over the road truck driver, driving for Westoff Inc., American Freight Inc., and retiring from VT Industries in Holstein, Iowa, in 1991. He was a union steward for American Freight Inc. He enjoyed a lot of friends from all walks of life, loved to hear and tell jokes and had the gift of making everybody laugh. He loved basketball, football and hockey. He was a founding member of the Peace Reformed Church in Sioux City in 2003. He especially loved being a member of the Siouxland Barbershop Chorus and was a member of the Five-And-Dime Barbershop Quartet. He was Chosen Barbershopper of the Year of the Sioux City Chapter in 1994 and again in 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Lila; three sisters, Marianne and Charles Foster of Omaha, Jean Peterson of Sioux City and Virginia Horace Wells of Gainesville, Fla.; three stepchildren and their spouses, Marleen "Marty" and Dirk Miller of Sioux City, Charleen and Don Prescott of Jacksonville, Fla., and Timothy and Barb Jones of Kopperl, Texas; many nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Lundgren of Le Mars, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Lundgren Fennema; an infant daughter; his parents; and two stepchildren, Julie Wilson and Monte Jones. Memorials may be made to Palliative Care, 4300 Hamilton Blvd., Sioux City, IA. 51104.
