Gerald Edward, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fett, residing one and one-half miles east of Craig, died at the Hawarden Hospital Saturday evening following an operation for obstruction of the bowls. He had not been feeling well for some time but his condition was not regarded as serious until Saturday when he was hurried to the Hawarden Hospital. It was decided there that an operation was imperative but the operation developed that gangrene had set in and had made such headway that there was no hope of saving his life. He passed away without rallying from the operation.

Gerald Edward Fett was just 12 years and 3 days old at the time of his death. He came with his parents to this community from Benton County, Iowa of LeMars, just a few years ago. His sudden death is a severe shock to his parents who have the sincere sympathy of everyone in their hour of sorrow.

Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fett, he is survived by one sister and one brother.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church at Craig Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Vollmar. Interment was in Ireton Cemetery.
