Sioux Center News, April 12, 1945

Mrs. C. K. De Vos passed away at the Hull hospital on April 9, 1945, after an illness of only a few days. She was an asthmatic patient and caught a severe cold, was taken to the hospital on Friday and passed away there early Monday morning. She had reached the age of 65 years.

Mrs. Neeltje De Vos was born in Goudswaard, Netherlands on May 22, 1879. In the year of 1899 she was united in marriage to Mr. C. De Vos and the family came to America in February 1925.

She is now survived by her husband and seven children, namely: William C. De Vos of Sioux Center; Mrs. Henry Keunen of Alton; Clarence De Vos of Hull; Joe De Vos and Cornie De Vos of Sioux Center; Tunis De Vos of Hawarden and Mrs. Louis Wynia of Ireton. Also 27 grandchildren and one brother, Mr. Johannes Van Bochove of Hull, and Mrs. Gerrit Meyers of Sheldon and two brothers and a sister in The Netherlands. She was preceded in death by a daughter Anna who died in 1904 while the family was still living in The Netherlands.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, April 12, 1945 at 12:30 at the home and at 2:00 o'clock at the Netherlands Reformed Church with Mtr. William Vander Hoef and Mr. Frank Van Dieren officiating.

Burial will take place at the local cemetery and acting as pall bearers will be the six sons, William, Clarence, Joe, Cornie and Tunis De Vos and Louis Wynia.
