Martena Dykstra of Rock Valley, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Martena was 76. Funeral service was held Wednesday the 4th at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Reverend Henry Poppen as the officiant. Interment was at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley.

Martena Gertrude Dykstra was born May 9, 1928, to William and Jennie (Solsma) Kruisselbrink near Primghar, IA. She married John U. Dykstra on January 20,1948. Together they lived in Rock Valley. Martena worked as a custodian at Rock Valley Public School for a number of years.She was a member of First Reformed Church and active in the Mary Circle. Martena was an avid Minnesota Twins and Northwestern Red Raiders fan.She enjoyed cooking, baking and especially, playing cards with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, John; sons: Dennis (Tricia) of Urbandale, IA and Jim (Joyce) of Farragut, IA; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sandy Dykstra of Loveland, CO; sister-in-law, Joan Kooiker of Middleberg, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard; sister, Cynthia Kruisselbrink; brothers-in-law: William Kooiker, William Dykstra and Clarence Mulder^ sisters-in-law: Eva Dykstra and Jess Mulder.
