Andrew C. Green, 81, a retired farmer who had lived in Hawarden and vicinity more than 60 years, died last Friday at his home after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Associated church with Rev. John C. Thorns officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.

Mr. Green was born January 31, 1876, at La Grange, Mo. He came to the Hawarden vicinity in 1897.

He married Miss Ella Patterson of Hawarden March 14, 1908, so would have been married 50 years in March. He engaged in farming and for 24 years he lived on the same farm seven miles southwest of Hawarden in Union county. In 1942 he retired and came to Hawarden to live.

Mr. Green was a member of the Associated church of Hawarden and the Modern Woodman lodge.

Survivors are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Leo Batchelder of Hawarden and Mrs. Arlington Ericson of Sanborn, Iowa; one son, Dick of Yankton, S.D.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Rev. and Mrs. R.E. Hodgkin and Mr. and Mrs. Tift of Sanborn, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Waterman and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Waterman of La Grange, Mo., and Robert Batchelder of Des Moines.
