Rex R. Green, 87, of Hawarden, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.

Funeral services was Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Stuart Schreur and the Rev. Michael Hyde officiating. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home, Hawarden, was in charge of arrangements.

Rex. R. Green was born September 18, 1912 in Union County, South Dakota to Amos and Gretchen (Tilgner) Green. He graduated from Hawarden High School in 1932. He married Lucyle Morton in December of 1955 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They farmed west of Hawarden in Union County. Mr. Green retired in 1977. They moved into Hawarden in 1997.

Mr. Green was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Freedom Masonic Lodge #434 of Akron. He received his 50-year membership in Masonry in 1994.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Lucyle of Hawarden; his daughter-in-law, Jane Green of Primghar, Iowa; a sister, Fern Helland of California; two grandchildren, David and Michelle Green; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
