Kenneth Kooima, 75, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, August 31, at Hegg Memorial Hospital. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church inRock Valley with the Revs. Mike Van Hamersveld and Henry Poppen officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Kooima was born March 4, 1929, at Inwood, the son of Fred and Bertha (Boscaljon) Kooima. He served in the U. S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He married Dora Van Holland on October 13, 1948, at Inwood. They lived near Inwood before moving to Rock valley in 1959. He worked at Kooima Machine Company for 35 years before retiring in 1994. He was active in the Rock Valley VFW, Justice for All, RV Senior Citizens and the First Reformed Church Council.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeff of Marshalltown; a daughter, Jan (Ron) Siemonsma of Dell Rapids; a brother, Rod (Bonnie) Kooima of Inwood; sisters, Ann (George) Halma of Inwood and Marilyn (Lorn) Rus of Rock Valley; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Billy; and a sister,Henrietta Siemonsma.
