Mrs. Florence S. Klein, 87, of Westfield, NJ, died September 5, 2004 in Overlook Hospital, Summit. Mass was at 10:00 a.m. September 9 at Holy Trinity Church, Westfield with interment at Fairview Cemetery.

Florence was born in Alton, Iowa, the youngest daughter of William F. and Anna Mary (Henrich) Schnee. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Alton. She earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City where she was a member of the first graduating class.

Mrs. Klein was a junior high math teacher in Westfield from 1970 until 1987. Earlier she was a chemist with DuPont Corp. in Newark and a science teacher in the Midwest. It was at DuPont where she met her husband, Oscar J.C. Klein, a fellow chemist.

Mrs. Klein was a member of the Woman's Club in Westfield. She also had been a Eucharistic minister at Holy Trinity and a past president of the Mother's Guild. She lived in Westfield since 1947.

Surviving are her husband, Oscar J.C.; daughters Anne Tupper and Mary Haney; sons John, Charles and Paul and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Albert and Henry; sisters Clara Adler, Ida Gansemer, Rose Vonderhaar, Cornelia, Emma, Rita Schnee and Adelia (Dell) Reinders.
