Gertrude Leusink
Gertrude Leusink, 77, of SiouxCenter died Wednesday, March 31, at Orange City Municipal Hospital in Orange City. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Leusink was born June 8, 1926, to Clarence and Rena (Wissink) Den Herder on the family farm five miles west of Sioux Center. She grew up on the family farm, attending country school nearby. On January 21, 1948, she married Gerrit Henry Leusink in her parents' home. He preceded her in death on February 27,
1990.

After living in Sioux Center for two years, the couple moved to her family farm. In 1955, they moved their family to a farm west of Orange City. After her husband's death, she moved to her new home in Sioux Center in 1993. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center where she participated in Naomi Circle and Quilters Group. In recent years, she was a dedicated volunteer for CHEARS Home Health & Hospice and MOPS. She always enjoyed getting together with her lady friends on Friday nights and Sunday evenings. She was extremely grateful for the wonderful care she received from the Kosgrove staff in the past few weeks of her life.

Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Karen, Ron and Lisa and Glen and Julie, all of Orange City; her daughter, Mary Harris of Sioux City; and daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Rick Rook of Doon; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Genevieve Leusink of Sioux Center and Arlene Wynia of Luverne, Minnesota; four sisters-in-law, Hattie Berghorst of Hull, Catherine Vos and her husband Steve, Tena Leusink and Jeanette Leusink, all of Sioux Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law. The Leusink Family requests memorials be directed to CHEARS Hospice & Home Health.
