Michael A. Pohlen, 94, of Glendale, AZ and formerly of Hospers, IA passed away Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004 at his daughters home, in Glendale, AZ. Michael was born Dec. 17, 1909 the son of William and Suzanna (Jungers) Pohlen at Carnes, IA.

Michael moved with his family when he was a young boy to Everly, IA where he was raised and educated graduating from Everly High School in 1927. He was then employed as an assistant lumber yard manager for EM., Slagel at their Everly Yard. In 1934 he moved to Hospers where he managed the EM. Slagel lumber Yard there for many years. On May 29, 1940 he married Marie Jungers at Hospers where they made their home. He later worker in the Sioux County Assessor’s office in Orange City, IA. In 1974 they retired and moved to Sun City, AZ. Marie died June 20, 2003.

Funeral Service was 10:30 A.M. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers with Rev. John Vakulskas. Burial was at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Hospers. Funeral was at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, IA.

Survivors include Daughter, Rosemarie Ann Yaeger and her husband Vinnie of Glendale, AZ; one Granddaughter; Two Great-grandchildren. Casket Bearers included Gene File, Roger Laursen, Leo Neuroth, Jim and Michael J. Pohlen, Paul Von Arb. Michael was preceded in death by one Son, Christopher; two Sisters, Anna Neuroth, Sister Eucharia (Ida); five Brothers; Joseph, Peter, John, William and Leo.

Visitation was 3:00 P.M. on Friday. There was be a parish rosary at 4:00 P.M., a vigil prayer service at 7:30 P.M. all at St. Anthony's Cahtolic Church in Hospers. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St.; Phoenix, AZ 85014 or Spalding Catholic Schools.
