M. C. "Bud" Barrett, 69, of Chatsworth, died Monday, Feb. 7,2005 at the Hawarden Community Hospital. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Stuart Schreur officiating. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting with arrangements.

Morvin Charles Barrett was born Aug. 19, 1935 at Homestead, Iowa, the son of Morvin and Rosella (Holtey) Barrett. He served with the US Army from 1953 to 1956. On Feb. 27, 1987 Bud married Charlene Allen at Elk Point. They made their home in Chatsworth. Bud had been an over the road truck driver.

Survivors include his wife Charlene of Chatsworth; five children, Carrie Barrett of Tempe, Ariz., Cathy Teply of Elk Point, Susanne Kapaska of Loveland, Colo., Bud Barrett of Traer, Iowa and Michael Barrett of Loveland; five stepchildren, Jody Frye of North Sioux City, Jamie Frye of Sioux City, Jerry Frye of Council Bluffs, Julie Waterman of Chatsworth and Jeff Dean of Papillion, Neb.; a brother, Wayne Barrett of Ruthven, Iowa; a sister, Irene Deckard of Springfield, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Larry Allen of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gray of Hawarden and Beverly Juffers of Sioux City; 34 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
