Irene Margaret (Witt) Waaler, 80, of San Leandro, Calif., formerly of Hawarden, died Monday, October 4, 2004 in Calif. Graveside Committal Service was Oct. 20 at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. The Porter Funeral Home of Hawarden is assisting with the arrangements.

Irene Margaret (Witt) Waaler was born Oct. 5,1923 at Alcester, the daughter of Henry and Louise (Johnson) Witt. She was one of three girls, her sisters being Elma and Florence. Irene lived in Sioux City with her husband Richard Waaler. Following his death in 1964 she moved to San Leandro, Calif, where she was a private duty nurse. Irene was of the Lutheran faith and was a very active church member in California.

She is survived by a nephew, Don Boyles Deskin of Independence, Mo. and a niece, Joyce Boyles Colebank of Haltom City, Texas.
