Mary A. Van Der Vliet
Mary Ann Van Der Vliet, 66, of Hull died Saturday, June 12, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Funeral service was Tuesday, June 15, at 1:30 p.m., at First Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Interment was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Van Der Vliet was born October 5, 1937, at Larchwood, the daughter of John and Jennie (Bakker) Kramer. Her, family later .moved to Rock Valley, where she graduated from high school, On June 6, 1958, she married Gerald Dwayne Van Der Vliet at Rock Valley. Except for a short time in rural Boyden, they made their home in Hull. She was a nurses aide in Sioux Valley Hospital and an insurance secretary. In later years, she was a classroom paraprofessional for Area Education Agency 4, touching the lives of many special students.

She was an active member of the First Reformed Church, where she belonged to Reformed Church Women's Ministries, serving as President and officer, and taught Sunday school and catechism classes. She was a charter member of Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed camping, working crossword puzzles and attending her grandchildren's activities, She was her grandchildren's number-one fan attending numerous sporting events and never missing a concert at all the various schools they attended.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years; three daughters, Sandra and her husband Doug Grave, of Mankato, Minnesota, Debra, and her husband Dave Dibbet of Sioux Center, and Donna Van't Hof, of Orange City; a son and his wife, Brian and Melody Van Der Vliet of Hull; 11 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; a brother and his wife, Martin and Millie Kramer of Sioux Falls; four sisters , Christina Boogerd, Elizabeth Van Duyn and Hody and her husband Wally Paulson, all of Sioux Falls, Alice Park of Colman, South Dakota, and Marge and her husband John Harmelink of Rock Valley; her father-in-law, Herman Van Der Vliet; five sisters-in-law, Julie, Jennie, Annie and Ruby Kramer, and Sherri and her husband Corky Koerselman; brothers-in-law, Jerry Johnson, Keith Van Der Vliet and his wife Pat, Kevin Van Der Vliet and Dan Smith; many nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor and friend, Margie Leusink.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Hank, Bert, Jay, Phil and Sonny Kramer; three sisters, Hattie and Winnie Monster and Jennie Johnson; her mother-in- law, Gertrude Van Der Vliet; four brothers-in-law, Leo and Lawrence Monster, Bill Van Duyn and Richard Park; a sisterin-law, Lolita Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Sioux County CHEARS and Hospice.
