Elsie Meyer, 74, Rock Rapids, died Monday evening, Dec. 20, at Rock Rapids Health Centre.

Services were Monday Dec. 27 at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. George Clausen officiating. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, under the direction of Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.

Elsie Meyer, daughter of Art and Gertrude (Koenen) Asche, was born May 14, 1930 in Rock Valley. She grew up in Rock Valley, and attended Rock Valley Christian School. She worked at Golden Rule in Rock Rapids.

While working in Rock Rapids, she met a nice man, Ervin Meyer. They were married Oct. 28, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church parsonage in George. They lived in George, where he was employed as a mechanic at Dreesman Brothers Implement and she was a homemaker, raising their two sons. They moved to Rock Rapids in 1966 and opened Meyer Repair, specializing in tractor engine repair. He did mechanical work and she was the secretary/bookkeeper. She became active in the Rock Rapids EMT's and later took a position at Lyon County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher. She continued her employment with them for the next 25 years. Mr. Meyer died Nov. 11 1999. She became a resident at Rock Rapids Health Care Centre in May 2002. During her retirement years, she enjoyed camping at Lake Pahoja, quilting and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Meyer of Westbrook, MN and Donald and Glee Meyer of Worthington, MN; and a sister, Albertha and William Van Roekel of Holland, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Meyer; and two sisters, Luann and Marie.
