Died: January 1, 2001 Sioux City, Iowa

Bernice H.Baker, 79, of Sioux Center died Mon. Jan.1, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.

Services were Fri. Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Arnold Punt officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Mrs. Baker was born to Henry D. and Hattie (Van Roekel) Kroon on Jan. 20, 1921, on a farm three miles east of Sioux Center. She married Henry J. Baker on June 21, 1946. She worked as a young girl for a local restaurant in Sioux Center. She also worked for the Sioux Center cleaners before becoming a dedicated homemaker.

She was a member of Central Reforrmed Church, Sioux Center.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years; two sons, Herlon J. and Margene of Rochester, NY, and Larry D. and Rebecca of Klamath Falls, ORE; a daughter, Sally A. and Michael Dieltz of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four sisters, Cornelia (Ceil) Kroon, Margaret Voortman, Arlone and Wilbur Vos and Clarene Kroon all of Sioux Center; two brothers, Richard H. and Ann of Orange City and Rev. William and Marge of Hampton; and 30 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude, Della and Marilyn; and two brothers, Corneilis and Gerrit.
