HULL - Tena De Smit, 73, of Hull died Friday, Sept. 25 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 28 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. William Renkema officiated. Burial was at Hope Cemetary in Hull, under the direction of the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home.

Tena was born Jan. 25, 1914 at Rock Valley, the daughter of Joe Kooima and Alice Schreuder Kooima. On Nov. 20, 1934 she married Leonard De Smit at Rock Valley. They lived in Sioux Falls, S.D. and Rock Valley and then farmed a few years at Hudson, S.D. In 1941, they moved to Hull.
Mrs. De Smit was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Mrs. John (Albertha) Top of Sioux Center; Jay of Rock Valley; Arnold of Orange City; and Mrs. Alvin (Sharon) Van Beek of Ireton; 15 grandchildren, 15-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ben (Coba) Vanden Berg of Rock Valley; and Mrs. Gerrit (Ann) Jansen of Hull; and two brothers, Henry and Elmer Kooima, both of Rock Valley.

She was proceeded in death by her son, Cornelius.
