Died: October 11, 2001 Inwood, Iowa

Abe Beukelman, 87, of Sioux Center died Thurs. Oct. 11, at Fellowship Village in Inwood.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Mon. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Beukelman was born to Abe Sr. and Elizabeth (Hoogland) Beukelman on July 9, 1914, in Sioux Center. He attended rural Sioux Center schools until the eighth grade. He married Gertie Leusink on May 12, 1943, in Middleburg. He farmed and worked for Farmers C0-0p Society. In his semi-retirement he sold Conklin products and did roofing.

He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church and a former member of the Protestant Reformed Church. He enjoyed metal and wood working, fishing, and singing Dutch psalms in a men's group.

Survivors include two sons, Ken and Dawn of Orange City and Allen and Phyllis of Sioux Center; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice and Percy Bylsma and Clara and Rev. Bert Den Herder: one brother-in-law, Robert Rens; and one sister-inlaw, Catherine Vos.

He was preceded in death by his wife (March 14, 1971); a brother, Alfred; and two sisters, Alice and Lena.
