Mr.Jake Rus passed away very suddenly at the Hull hospital at about one o'clock Tuesday afternoon after an illness of only a few hours. He had been enjoying good health and had visited his children in Dakota last week, but had some stomach trouble the early part of this week. On Tuesday morning he complained of a pain in his chest and was taken to the Hull hospital at about 9:30 o'clock and passed away there only a few hours later.

Mr. Rus is survived by his widow, Cornelia Lugtigheid Rus and the following children: Leonard of Corsica, S.D.; Arie of Armour, S.D.; Mrs. William Davelaar of Rock Valley; Mrs. Martin Vander Brink of Alvord; Jake of Armour, S.D.; Neal of Holland, Mich.; Bert of Doon and Marinus of Rock Valley. Also three step children, Evert Schoenveld of Artesia, Calif.; John Schoenveld of Downey, Calif. and Mrs. Gerrit Van Beek of Larchwood. Also 33 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Bert Van Beynum of Pella, a brother Mr. G. Rus of Pella and another brother Peter Rus of Armour, S.D. One son, Ed, two brothers and one sister, and his first wife preceded him in death.

Mr. Rus was born in the Netherlands on Oct. 23, 1867 and had reached the age of 78 years. He came to this country in the year of 1893 and the family first made their home on a farm near Rock Valley. They retired from farming about twenty-one years ago, living first in Rock Valley for a short time and then moved to Sioux Center where they have been making their home for the past seventeen years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:30 o'clock at the home and 1:00 o'clock at the Dutch Reformed church. Rev. Van Zweden of Rock Valley will officiate at the services. Burial will take place at the Rock Valley cemetery.
