Tony Hamersma of Ruthton, Minn., a former Hawarden resident, passed away Saturday afternoon in a hospital at Ruthton, following an operation for a ruptured appendix. He was recovering satisfactorily from the operation when pneumonia developed.

His remains will be brought to Hawarden and funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon, with Rev. W.V. Bell in charge. Interment will be in Grace Hill cemetery.

Tony Hamersma, son of Mrs. George Hamersma of Tyler, Minn., was born in Holland and was 36 years of age at the time of his death. He came to America as a small child with his parents, who located on a farm northwest of Hawarden. About 14 years ago, he was united in marriage with Leora Mohlman. To this union was born two children. About seven years ago he moved onto a farm near Ruthton, Minn.

Survivors are his wife and two children, Darlen, aged 13, and Loy Dean, aged 11; his mother, Mrs. Hamersma of Tyler, Minn.; five brothers and four sisters, Martin and Ben Hamersma of Hawarden, Henry Hamersma of Ruthton, Mrs. Lois Shriver, Mrs. Don Reitsma and Dora Hamersma of Tyler, Minn., Mrs. George Richardson of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Frank and Albert Hamersma, who are in the service.

Mrs. Hamersma's mother, Mrs. John Mohlman of Hawafden, has been at Ruthton the past two weeks to help look after the affairs in the home while he was in the hospital.
