Maynard Bos, 57, died June 3, at the Hegg Memorial Hospital due to cancer. Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church with burial at Valley View Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Maynard was born July 11, 1944, at Hills MN. He married Joan Ackerman on March 16, 1962. They lived at Alvord where he owned the Bos Grinding Service. Maynard became a certified law enforcement officer and was a deputy sheriff in Lyon County, 1974-1978. He married Shirley Stallman on May 29, 1979. Together they lived at Rock Valley where Maynard was a deputy sheriff later beoming sergeant for Sioux County, 1981-2001. Maynard earned many awards in law enforcement including Sioux County's first "Life Saving Award."

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; five children and their spouses, Duane and Joleen Bos of Larchwood, Randy and Cheryl Bos of Rock Rapids, Rick and Angela Bos of Larchwood, David and Corrine Bos of Norfolk, NE. Amy and Chuck Meiburg of Rock Rapids; 3 step-children, Robin and husband Gary DeBruin of Rock Valley, Julie and husband, Don Kats of Rock Valley, Randy Stallman of Rock Valley; 8 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 2 brothers and their spouses, Lyle and Dorothy Bos and Verlyn and Henrietta Bos of Hills, MN.
