From the Sioux County Bee and Rock Valley Register, December 14, 1900:
"Of Such is the Kingdom"
The entire community sympathizes tenderly and deeply with Mrs. Celia Gunter who was called upon to mourn the loss of her little daughter Beatrice Tuesday morning. The child was about 18 months old and as bright and happy as could be. It seems particularly sad that its mother should be thus bereaved, while the grief occasioned by the loss of her husband, only a few weeks ago, is still heavy. Yet we must learn to trust in Him above, Who doeth all things well, though we cannot understand. The funeral occurred from St. Mary's Wednesday at 11:00 o'clock and the little one was laid to rest for ever.

Death of Little Beatrice Gunter.

On Wednesday morning at 6:30 o'clock the death of little Beatrice Anastasie Gunter, aged one year two months and six days. She was sick but three weeks, having as was supposed only a slight attack of Bronchitis, and even up to Sunday before her death no danger was apprehended. Sunday night about 9 o'clock her condition became rapidly worse, and Monday morning while looking at her papa's picture she suddenly threw up her arms and cried out, "papa, papa, of mama!" These were the last words she spoke.

This little flower, although so very young, had won the affection of all who knew her by her simple, loving ways. [Followed by a sentimental poem, "This little bud so young and fair...."]

A brief news note in the Sioux County Herald (Orange City), December 19 calls the mother Mrs. Celia Guinter.

As a follow-up note, The Sioux County Bee and Rock Valley Register, January 18, 1901, has this: Mrs. Celia Gunter is now recovering from her illness which was very critical and is happy over the birth of her little daughter last week. Both are doing nicely now.
