Bernard J. Grooters, 78, of Boyden, died Thursday, March 26, in a Sheldon, Iowa Hospital.

Services were at 1:30 P.M. Monday at the First Reformed Church in Boyden. The Rev. Sylvester Moths officiated. Burial was in the Boyden Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Boyden.

Mr. Grooters was born June 3, 1902, in Boyden. He married Gertrude Vander Zwaag February 10, 1927, at Boyden.

Survivors include the widow; one son, Rodney of Hull, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Margene) Vande Gaarde of Lyndon, Washington, and Miss Janet of Boyden; three brothers, Arie of Montevideo, Minnesota, Ray of Sanborn, Iowa, and Lawrence of Pella, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Jeanette) Vanden Bosch of Fertile, Iowa, and Mrs. Lydia Smit of Redlands, California; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
