Anthony “Tony” Gerritsen, 58, died Thursday, February 20, at his residence. Services were at 2 P.M. Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Gerritsen was born on September 6, 1944, in Rock Valley, the son of Gerrit and Anna Fern (Vander Schaaf) Gerritsen. He attended school at Rock Valley Christian School and began working at Doon Salvage Company after completing school. He had currently been working for Van Beek Masony and Concrete.

He was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed working outside. When not working, he spent his time gardening and fixing up his home.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Gerrit Jr. and Toly Gerritsen of Sioux City; two sisters, Katherine Brinkman of Rock Valley and Theodora Williamsen of Centerville, South Dakota; and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
