Stanley Aardema, 60, of Doon died Sunday, Oct. 4, at the VA Medical Center at Sioux Falls following a two -year battle with ALS-Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley with the Rev. Tim Perkins officiating. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery at Doon.

Aardema was born November 3, 1937, at Doon, son of Simon and Tracy (Zylstra) Aardema. He graduated from Doon Christian Grade School. He married Faye Prinsen Sept. 1, 1963 at Lake Benton, MN. The couple lived near Doon where he was a masonry contractor.

He was a member of the United Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; one son and his wife, David and Loann of Doon; four daughters and their husbands, Ruth and Mike Aguirre of Sergeant Bluff, Kathy and Lee Hill of Milford, CT, Tracy and Darwin Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley and Brenda and Daryl Fluit of Inwood; nine grandchildren; his mother, Tracy Aardema of Rock Rapids Helath Center ; two brothers, Harold of Doon and Don and his wife Mary Ann also of Doon; one sister and her husband, Shirley and Louie Sneller of Doon.

He was preceded in death vy hia father and one grandson.

Memorials may be directed to Doon Christian Reformed School.
