After brief illness Frank Joseph Walch passed away at his home in Sheldon Iowa Wednesday July third. Mr. Walch was born in Furstenthum Lichtenshtein Germany October sixteen 1850. He came to America with his parents in 1855 and the family settled in Clayton county near Guttenberg Iowa and later moved to Monona Iowa. After forty years of farm life he retired and has during the past thirteen years made his home in Hospers and Sheldon. During the last few years he has made several trips to Europe. By his liberal donations to the Catholic church he will long be remembered by the people of Hospers. The funeral took place Friday July fifth and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery Rev. Geling officiating.
Out of a family of nine children three brothers and two sisters survive they are Sebastian and John of Monona Iowa, Magneus of Sheldon, Mrs. Mary Walch of Mason City and Mrs. Martha Daubenberger of Chiokio MN.

(Submitter found 1880 census of Farmersburg Clayton Co. IA. Martha Walch was 66 and sons Frank 24 and Magnus 22 were living with her. It is believed the Frank was single.)
